FRED PERRY

HEAD VARSITY WRESTLING COACH

JUNIOR VARSITY FOOTBALL COACH

Fred Perry is a 1973 graduate of London Central High School in High Wycombe England. At London Central he played four years of football, wrestling, track and baseball. During his senior year, Mr. Perry placed first at the All-England Wrestling Championship Tournament and second in the high hurdles at the All-England Track Championships.

Mr. Perry graduated in 1977 from Barrington College in Barrington, Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Health. While at Barrington, Mr. Perry played baseball and wrestled.  In 1988 he received his Masters Degree in Educational Administration from New Paltz College in New Paltz, New York.

Mr. Perry started his teaching carrier teaching Physical Education at Bishop Keough High School in Pawtucket, Rhode Island before moving to New York. From 1978 to 1980 he took a leave from teaching and became an Assistant Manger for K-Mart Corporation.

In 1980 Mr. Perry left the corporate field to return to teaching. He took a position as Physical Education Teacher at Regina Coeli in Hyde Park. He moved to Holy Trinity School in Poughkeepsie where he taught 6th,7th, and 8th grade Science and Health as well as teaching K – 8th grade Physical Education. In 1987 Mr. Perry accepted a position as Physical Education Teacher at Arlington High School where he still remains.

 

He started his coaching carrier in 1982 at Arlington High School as the wrestling coach. As wrestling coach his teams has one sectional championship, one divisional championship and five league championships. He has ten individual sectional champions and three state place finishers. He has been voted the Dutchess County Wrestling Coach of the Year five times and the Poughkeepsie Journal Wrestling Coach of the Year six times.

Along with coaching wrestling Mr. Perry also coached baseball for 21 years and is in his 20th year as the JV Football Coach. He was an Assistant Coach for the USA Baseball Italian Tour during the summers of 2002 and 2003. In 2002 Mr. Perry became an Assistant Coach for the Hudson Valley Wrestling Team at the New York Empire State Games.

Mr. Perry lives in Poughkeepsie with his wife Terry and two daughters Alyssa and Jessica.
