Chris Malet

Head Junior Varsity Lacrosse Coach

Coach Chris Malet is a 1994 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie, NY.  While at Lourdes, Coach played four years of football and was captain for three of those years.  Coach also started for four years on the Hyde Park Lacrosse Club, where he was named captain his senior year.

Upon graduation, Coach Malet went to St. Joseph’s University, in Philadelphia, PA. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  While at SJU, coach played varsity lacrosse for two years.  He later went on to graduate from Marist College, with a Master’s Degree in Educational Pschycology.

Chris’ teaching career began in February 1999 at St. Mary’s School in Fishkill, NY.  Since then coach has taught at Christopher Columbus Elementary School in the city of Poughkeepsie, Arlington Middle School, and Union Vale Middle School, where he currently teaches 6th grade Social Studies.

Chris began his lacrosse coaching career at Arlington High School in the spring of 1999 as an assistant on the varsity team.  In 2001, coach became the first Junior Varsity coach in the lacrosse program's short history. In 2007, Coach Malet was the offensive coordinator on the varsity team which won the program's first league title.

Coach Malet also coached football at his Alma matter, Our Lady of Lourdes where he was the head coach of the Junior Varsity for the 1998 season.  In 1999, Coach Malet was promoted to varsity where he became the defensive coordinator, a position he held for three years and helped lead the team to their last bowl game in 1999.  Coach then became the assistant coach for the modified football teams at Arlington Middle School and later at Union Vale Middle School.  He is currently the head modified football coach at UVMS.

From 2004-2006 Coach Malet is also the team manager for the Irish National Lacrosse Team and the membership coordinator for the Irish Lacrosse Foundation.  Coach was a player for the national team in 2003.

Chris has also coached at a number of national camps and clinics, most notably the Hartwick JV Shootout Challenge, and the United States Military Academy Lacrosse Camp.  He is also the director and owner of the Mid-Hudson Lacrosse Academy.

Chris currently lives in Poughkeepsie with his wife Kelly Anne, and when he isn’t teaching or coaching, he can be found either watching a lacrosse or football game or playing golf.

His favorite moment at Arlington is being the head coach of the JV team when they earned their first win ever in a three overtime victory over Nyack High School, though helping the lacrosse team to win the 1999 Hudson Valley Lacrosse League title is a very close second.

Coach has truly enjoyed his time at Arlington and looks forward to helping create a winning lacrosse and football program for years to come.
