Coach Jacovino is entering his eleventh year at Arlington High School. He previously taught and coached at Pine Plains High School from 1980- 1991. Coach Jacovino is a 1974 graduate of Pine Plains High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He graduated from SUNY Cortland in 1978 where he participated in track and rugby. He also has a Masters degree in Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama. At Pine Plains, many of his teams enjoyed success. He coached cross country, football, boys and girls' basketball, winter and spring track, tennis and softball during his tenure. Many of his teams won league championships with his 1984 girls' basketball team reaching the Class C championship game. Some of his former athletes are currently coaching at the high school level. During the summers of 1987-89, he coached AAU girl’s basketball with the Hudson Valley Knights. Many of his players went on to play college and professional basketball. Some of the players he coached were Karen Lounsbury(Lourdes/Georgia Tech), Joann Balsamo(Somers/St. Peters) and Tammy Reiss(Eldred/Virginia/Utah(WNBA)). His 1987 16 and under team finished 5th in the AAU Nationals and led the tournament in free throw percentage. During that time, he also worked at the Golden Valley Basketball and Marist Basketball Camps as an instructor. At Arlington, Coach Jacovino has coached JV field hockey and winter and spring track. He currently coaches Varsity Cross Country, Bowling and JV Softball. His cross country team has won the league championships 2 out 3 years with the boys winning the Sectional title in 2005. The team was also recognized for outstanding achievement by the Poughkeepsie Elks Club in 2004. His bowling teams have won one league title (2004) and three consecutive Sectional titles (2003-2005). For his efforts, he was named Poughkeepsie Journal Coach of the Year for bowling (2005). His four year JV Softball record is 61-19. Mr. Jacovino resides in Pleasant Valley.
